About the Major

Two female students sit on the ground and examine a coffee plant.

From the food we eat to the clothes we wear, plants have an impact on our everyday lives.

Discover the science behind plants at Cal Poly Pomona — from breeding and propagation, planting to irrigation, and pest management to plant diseases. You'll learn about how science is connected to plants, farming, agriculture, and horticulture.

You'll gain valuable hands-on experience in our campus farm, apiary, labs, and greenhouses. You can learn about large and small-scale production, organic and hydroponic growing methods, soil science, turf management, and arboriculture.

You can learn more about the courses offered in the major — required and elective — as well as general education requirements in the University Catalog link below.
